Bulldogs pick up DB

Hazlehurst won the 3A state championship in December, led by quarterback Damien Anderson, but as with many top athletes in the Magnolia State, Anderson will play elsewhere at the next level. He committed to Mississippi State and the Bulldogs want him to play on the defensive side of the ball. What made him choose State?
"I am going to go to Mississippi State," he said. "I got the offer yesterday. I had went to junior day Saturday, and I liked the facilities and the coaches down there."
Anderson is being recruited by Bulldog coach Shane Beamer and really enjoyed his trip.
"They liked me and they liked film on me and they would like me to come down there and play as defensive back," he said. "Coach Croom would like to see me down there and I liked the school and stuff and the program."
As a junior Anderson rushed for 416 yards and accounted for 11 touchdowns. He was awarded all-district honors for his play on the field. At 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds he runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.
Editor's note: Another Hazlehurst star is also receiving a lot of attention is DE Jazzmen Guy. Here is what Anderson had to say about his teammate:
"They gave him an offer too. I think he said he is going to commit. I got to call Coach Beamer again in the morning and talk to coach Croom. I talked to coach Beamer tonight and he was happy to hear from and was happy to get the good news and happy for me to come play for them and commit."
