Bulldogs add third hoops commit for 08

Mississippi State added its third commit of the 2008 basketball recruiting class on Wednesday when Demarquis Bost made it official. He will be in Starkville next summer after spending a year at Hargrave Military Academy.
"I verbally committed to Mississippi State tonight," he said. "I talked to my family and my mom and my AAU coach and we went down there and decided it was the best fit."

Bost is being recruited by Rick Stansbury and Robert Kirby and chose the Bulldogs over offers from Cincinnati, Florida State, Miami and Clemson. He had been receiving a lot of late interest from numerous schools.
After being a long shot to qualify, then nearly pulling it off late, he will spend the next year at Hargrave, focusing on his grades and gaining maturity in the military environment. He will travel to Starkville next summer, where he will apparently take the reigns from likely-to-be departed Jamont Gordon.
"They told me I would play point guard most of the time, but I would be a combo guard," he said. "I feel I will bring an extra 15 points and an extra ten assists a game."
Now that it is over he can concentrate on the task at hand and is very happy with his choice.
"I feel good about it," he said. "I went on and made my mind up that I am going to be a Bulldog and it feels good."
Bost was named the 3A MVP in North Carolina – both in basketball and in football as a quarterback – this year, was also named MVP of the 2007 Carolina Classic, the Carolina all-star game. He joins Rivals150 stars Scotty Hopson and Romero Osby as early commitments in the class of 2008.
