Bulldogs add royal commitment

The Bulldogs have been looking for help along the defensive line, but while the commitments have been rolling in, only one fit this bill up until this point. Last night, however, the Bulldogs drew into a royal flush when they added a prince to the list of commitments; more specifically, defensive end Rodney Prince of Shades Valley, Alabama.
"I committed to Mississippi State," he said. "Me and my parents had been talking about it for the last couple of weeks, really the last month. We just think it is a good place for me. Coach Croom and his staff are excellent people and we really liked it and we prayed about it and felt that was the best overall decision for us and I felt I really had a good chance down there."
Prince had been considering several schools, and had offers from Southern Miss and Troy Staet, but the three-star lineman decided early in the season when he wanted to make his decision…and now was the time.
"I had said that after my fourth or fifth game I would go ahead and make a decision, so it was time," he said. "I am thankful for all of the other schools that called me and offered me, but I felt this was the best decision for me and my family."
Prince committed to coach Freddie Kitchens last night in what was an interesting set of circumstances.
"Actually it was real interesting about the timing," Prince explained. "I was going to call him, but about ten minutes before I called him, he actually called me, so I went ahead and committed to him then. My decision is pretty firm. The thing with this is that I plan to go to Mississippi State unless something drastic happens."
So where – and when – will Prince see time on the field in Starkville?
"We haven't talked about where exactly I am going to play but I really feel like I have a chance to get down there – maybe a redshirt year – but I am not really sure about that, but I think I have a good chance to get down there and play," he said. "They were just telling me about signing two defensive ends and I really feel like I have a chance to get down there, get in the weight room and get stronger and faster and learn the schemes and everything and I will have a chance to play in my early years down there."
Prince has not set an official visit, but will visit Starkville for either the Georgia game this upcoming weekend or LSU to following week. So far this season his team is 0-4, but in those games, Prince has contributed around 26 tackles, five sacks and one fumble recovery.
