Batiste set to camp

Over the last few weeks, Lutcher (La.) rising senior Jordan Batiste has witnessed a major boost in his recruitment. He's collected a few new offers and that has created more options for the 5-foot-9 and 170-pound cornerback prospect.
"My latest offer was from Pittsburgh and I was excited about that one," said Batiste. "Then I also had offers lately from Louisiana-Lafayette, Western Kentucky and Nicholls State. So I have a total of nine right now and that's a pretty good feeling."

Batiste also holds offers from the likes of Mississippi State, Southern Miss and Tulane along with strong interest from Ole Miss. Of that group, Batiste said he has no bonified leader but a trio of schools currently sit at the top.
"I like Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Pittsburgh and those are my three favorites," said Batiste, who had 84 tackles, two interceptions and blocked a punt last year. "Mississippi State was my first big-time offer and they've shown me a lot of love ever since. Ole Miss is like a childhood favorite school of mine and with their depth chart, I think I could play early there. And the depth chart also favors early playing time at Pittsburgh, too."
This weekend, Batiste will have the opportunity to visit two of his three favorite schools and both hail from the Magnolia State.
"I am going to Ole Miss' camp on Saturday and then I will be at Mississippi State on Monday or Tuesday," said Batiste. "I am going to both camps with our running back Daniel Taylor. Those are the only camps I know I am going to right now but I might also go to TCU's camp."
And planning to graduate from Lutcher High School in December, Batiste said his summer visits will play a "big factor" in his collegiate choice.
"I am going to graduate early so I hope to make my choice before school starts back," said Batiste. "So my camp visits will be really important and be a big factor in my decision. I am going to see the schools that have offered or try to see the ones I think may offer."
