Ala. DB Jourdan Thomas eager to get back to Starkville

SUWANEE, Ga.-The Montgomery (Ala.) Catholic duo of Jourdan Thomas and Kylon Griffin each committed to Mississippi State just 12 days apart back in early March. Both of them were recently at the Rivals Camp Series event that took place in Atlanta.

Thomas spent some time talking with BB about many different topics.

"It was just under two weeks after he committed that I knew that was home for me as well," said Thomas about when he knew Mississippi State was the place for him. "It wasn't for him, though. Him and I playing together is just an add-on honestly."

Thomas talked about what it was that separated Mississippi State from the other schools that were pursuing him.

"Really, it is mostly about relationships with me. I talk to Coach (Jason) Washington or Coach (Tony) Hughes almost every day. We gained a relationship throughout these uncertain times. We would do zoom meetings, and that was where I first got the chance to learn more about the campus and see it. They were never just recruiting me. they were recruiting my family as well. They made me feel comfortable."

Thomas made the trip over to Starkville for the spring game to get a feel for his future home.

"It was a great time," exclaimed Thomas about the trip. "It was good to see everyone compete. All the DB's were making plays out there, it was good to see. I can play any position in the defensive backfield, and I feel my skillset compares in a way to someone like Collin Duncan."

Other schools have not shied away from recruiting him despite his commitment, and while he remains committed, he's taking things one day at a time.

"There's still a lot of interest coming in from other schools. Louisville, Virginia, Tennessee, and a few others."

His first visit once the dead period ends is expected to be Starkville.
