4-star Florida OT commits to Mississippi State

Mississippi State hopes that the commitment of four-star Fort Pierce (Fla.) offensive lineman Stewart Reese keeps the ball rolling with just two days until National Signing Day.

The Bulldogs added a commitment from Indiana based athlete John Michael Hankerson on Sunday, and Reese, the nation's No.20 offensive tackle, committed to MSU on Monday.

Reese is MSU's fifth four-star commitment of the 2016 class, joining Jamal Couch, Emmit Gooden (will be headed to Holmes C.C. for two years), Drelan Porter, and Marquiss Spencer.

Fort Pierce Central head coach Josh Shaffer says that Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen played a huge role in Reese's MSU pledge.

"Ultimately it was Coach Mullen," Shaffer said. "Talking with Stew and his parents, they felt he and the staff were who they wanted their boy to play for."

Not only did Mullen play an instrumental role in the 'Dawgs snagging Reese, new defensive backs coach Terrell Buckley helped MSU's cause as well.

"We had a relationship with Coach Buckley when he was at Akron, then Louisville, and now Mississippi State," said Shaffer. "Coach Buckley has a done a great job in our area, so there was a comfort level with him."

Shaffer believes that Mississippi State is getting a guy in Reese that can play all positions along the offensive line.

"Stew is a very versatile offensive linemen," explained Shaffer. "He was a two time all-state player in Florida's highest classification at tackle. He projects as a guard and can also snap. Stew has been a natural pass protector and his an immovable object."
