2018 Texas LB says Auburn is a 'dream offer'

2018 Tyler, Texas, linebacker Martrevious Allison has all the potential to add himself to the list of elite young ascending players at his position by the end of this fall.

He started his junior season last weekend leading the charge for his John Tyler defense in a big win against Plano West in the final game of the Trinity Mother Frances Kickoff Classic on Saturday. He was especially stout against the run and showed the kind of defensive willingness that has already grabbed the attention of Mississippi State, the first and - so far - only team to offer him.

“When I got the offer I was only a sophomore, so I was like ‘What did I do this season that’s got their attention?’” he said. “They must have seen something that was good.”

That seems just the tip of the iceberg for Allison, who is blessed with a frame capable of adding more lean muscle to complement his athleticism. For now, his success as a run-stuffer with an offer in-hand from the Bulldogs should see him popping up on other teams’ radars sooner than later.

“Mississippi State has my attention, but really, any SEC school I feel like is where I would fit best,” he said. “I like the competition, the smash-mouth football. All day.”

IN HIS WORDS

On a future visit to Starkville to check out Mississippi State

“I’m looking forward to visiting, but right now I am just focused on the season and getting my team to where we wanna be,” hs said. “It real important for me to see some colleges though because I’m coming up on my last year here. So I want to see what’s best for me - what’s the best fit.”

On Auburn being his dream offer

“A dream offer would be Auburn,” he said. “Just growing up, watching them play against Alabama, the atmosphere that I see on TV is just something I wanna be a part of. I want to be a Tiger; everyone says Alabama-this, or Alabama-that, but I want to be the one that takes them down.”

RIVALS REACTION

Allison’s supporting cast was every bit as aggressive as him when it came to swarming to the ball on Saturday. With plenty of talent around him at his school, most notably four-star wide receiver and Texas commit, Damion Miller, he’s sure to be seen by - and offered - by more programs over the course of this season. For now, it seems tough to argue that Auburn would be the team to beat for him, should they offer, and the allure of playing for a big-time program certainly appeals to him.

Offers will come when they come, but for now, he’ll be looking to build off his strong Week 1 showing and continue to try and piece together a big junior season.

“As long as I keep grinding, helping my team out every day, everything should fall into place,” he said.
