Sanders breaks into Rivals100

Vincent Sanders' meteoric rise up the recruiting ranking charts continued on Tuesday when the versatile star from Macon, Miss., cracked the new Rivals100.

Sanders, a wide receiver prospect who is coveted by some as a defensive back as well, broke into the top 100 at No. 100 following a summer that included a strong showing at a 7-on-7 camp in Mississippi and an eye-popping performance at Southern Cal's camp.

"I'm really excited about it," Sanders said. "I appreciate all the people who put me in the top 100 and I feel like they made a good decision.

"I put in a lot of work this summer, going to camps. I had a pretty good performance in the spring and I think they went back and looked at the film and they saw I bring a lot to the team on offense, defense and special teams."

Sanders' summer is beginning to wind down, but it's still plenty busy. He made a media appearance in Columbus, Miss., Tuesday and is in Jackson, Miss., today for an appearance with the rest of the (Jackson) Clarion-Ledger's "Dandy Dozen" prospects.

Sanders said he plans to go to Mississippi State's camp Friday night, where he might or might not work out in front of the Bulldogs' coaches. Then he'll make the trip to Ole Miss on Saturday morning.

"I'm going to compete (at the Rebels' camp)," Sanders said. "I'm just going to go and hang out. I want to go and talk to the coaches and be with them. Plus, I have a couple of teammates going to the Ole Miss camp who are going to compete so I want to support them."

Sanders said he'll wrap up his busy summer with a follow-up trip to Alabama on Aug. 1. Then he'll turn all of his focus to helping his Noxubee County team defend its Mississippi Class 4A state title. Sanders, a 6-foot-3, 182-pounder, is ranked as the No. 25 wide receiver prospect in the country by Rivals.com. He accounted for more than 800 yards of total offense last season, adding 14 touchdowns as well as seven interceptions on defense.

Sanders, who hasn't openly named a college favorite, has offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, Tennessee and Texas Tech. North Carolina and Wisconsin are also showing strong interest.
