Carter picks WVU at Army AA Bowl
U.S. Army All-American Bowl coverage | More all-star coverageMORE:
SAN ANTONIO - Pompano Beach (Fla.) Ely defensive back Michael Carter has been keeping offensive players on edge all week at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl practice sessions. His natural coverage abilities, speed and quickness have made opposing wide receivers cringe but it has also made college coaches salivate.
The four-star prospect has been keeping two colleges in particular on edge with his college decision lurking all week.
On Saturday, Carter ended the suspense and finally made his decision in front of a national television audience at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in the Alamodome.
"The school I'm going to be at for the next three years the University of West Virginia," Carter said.
Carter chose the Mountaineers over offers from Minnesota, Florida, Miami, Georgia and numerous other programs. He becomes the fifth four-star commitment in the West Virginia 2009 class.
Carter becomes the second highly recruited defensive back in as many years from the Pompano Beach program as well as the second in as many years to compete in the U.S. Army Bowl.
Last season Patrick Peterson was one of the top performers in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and signed with LSU.
