Power rankings: Off week kind to McCoy
• Rivals.com Power Rankings by Position: QB | RB | WR | TE | OL | DL | LB | DB | ST
• Coaches Power Rankings: Head Coach | Off. Coordinator | Def. Coordinator
McCoy was the beneficiary of Oklahoma's 65-21 victory over Texas Tech last weekend. Oklahoma's blowout allowed McCoy to replace Texas Tech's Graham Harrell as the No. 1 quarterback in the power rankings, which measure the nation's top players and coaches at each position.
Harrell was 33-of-55 for 361 yards and three touchdowns against Oklahoma, but he did much of his damage after Oklahoma had put the game out of reach. The Sooners led 42-7 at halftime.
McCoy remained ahead of Oklahoma's Sam Bradford, who moved up to No. 2 in the quarterback rankings after going 14-of-19 for 304 yards and four touchdowns against Texas Tech.
Bradford has thrown a dozen more touchdown passes and has one less interception than McCoy, but McCoy's versatility gave him the slightest of edges. McCoy has rushed for eight touchdowns and a team-high 527 yards, while Bradford has rushed for 42 yards and four touchdowns.
McCoy's move represented the only change at the top of the power rankings.
Players and coaches remaining atop their respective positions were Iowa running back Shonn Greene, Texas Tech wide receiver Michael Crabtree, Missouri tight end Chase Coffman, Alabama offensive tackle Andre Smith, Texas defensive end Brian Orakpo, Florida linebacker Brandon Spikes, Tennessee strong safety Eric Berry, Florida State kicker Graham Gano, Alabama coach Nick Saban, Oklahoma offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson and USC defensive coordinator Nick Holt.
The rating of a player and coach can fluctuate each week during the season depending on how they fared the previous week, but the power rankings measure overall career performances as well as their most recent results.
