Budmayr is back in a big way

Woodstock (Ill.) Marian Central Catholic junior quarterback prospect Jon Budmayr (6-foot-1, 184 pounds) admits that sitting out four weeks during the regular season because of a hamstring injury was the longest four weeks of his life on the gridiron so far. Budmayr has since returned to the lineup for the Hurricanes and hasn't looked back, including Budmayr's impressive performance in last Saturday's 29-15 win over Montini Catholic. Budmayr talks about his season and much more in this recruiting update.

"It was an excited game and a great game for our team on Saturday," Budmayr said. "We lost pretty good to Montini earlier in the season, so everyone was really focused on Saturday. It was great to get them back in the state playoffs, and we just want to keep playing. I was out for four weeks with my hamstring injury, and it was the longest four weeks I can ever remember. It was the type of injury that I needed to be patient with and that wasn't easy. I feel great and it's great to be back and helping my team win games."

Budmayr has also continued to draw steady recruiting interest this fall.

"I still have the same offers. I've been getting more and more hand written mail from schools like Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Northwestern and Purdue. I've been getting a ton of invitations to junior days. I've been to football games this fall at Wisconsin and Notre Dame and those went really well. It gave me a chance to talk with the coaches in person and it gave me a better idea of each school."

Budmayr is planning to stay busy once his junior season is completed.

"I'm going to work out hard this off season. I'm going to go to speed camp and I'm also going to lift and get involved in a throwing program this off season. I'm also going to try to get out and see as many schools as I can this winter and spring. I'm still pretty open and I just want to get a chance to see what these school look like and what they have to offer. It should be fun."

Jon Budmayr has scholarship offers from the Northwestern University and the University of Wisconsin.
