Bulldogs add No. 4

Mississippi State has three tight ends that have been on campus for five years, but after this season, the depth chart will take a big hit. Step in Plainfield, Ind., athlete Nelson Hurst, and things may not miss a beat. Hurst gave his pledge today and hopes to be in Starkville sooner than the average recruit.

"I just called coach Croom today and told them the news," Hurst said. "They came by the school yesterday and I just decided that's where I wanted to go."

State was his first offer, and after receiving several more recently, he opted to join the Maroon and White.

"I liked Mississippi State," he said. "I liked the coaches and I liked the place. I think I should have the chance to get some early playing time. They just said they were excited for me and the program."

So when does he plan to be in Starkville?

"I think they want me to come in mid semester next year, an early graduate, so I am going to try to get that set up."
