Jones in action
One of the bigger prospects in the country, offensive tackle Jarvis Jones is a quiet player whose actions speak louder than words. However, the Lone Star prospect had plenty to say when he found out he was being invited to the inaugural Offense-Defense All-American Bowl to be played on Jan. 4 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
"I'm grateful to have this opportunity," Jones said. "I was real excited about the honor. The game stood out to me. I asked around, like with my coaches and the people that I associate with, and they told me that this would be best for me. I was on the same page with them and I was ready to show my stuff."
"Everyone knows I'm big," Jones said. "I'm going to show them that I'm athletic and rangy. I can come off the ball now, too. They'll see all of that.
"I'm also going to represent Texas – I've got to."
Jones' senior year is going quite well. His football team won their first playoff game and will now face off against Nederland in the next round. As for recruiting, that's something that Jones wants to leave on the back burner until his senior season is complete.
So far, he's visited Arizona and Iowa but doesn't have a lot of thoughts on his next trips.
"I'm going to worry about all of that when my senior season is over," Jones said. "I'm getting senior football taken care of. I'm keeping things open until then."
