Lewis to return; Richardson probable
Jamaal Lewis will be back in action and Terry Richardson practiced Tuesday and is now listed as probable after missing four games with a moderate MCL knee sprain.Arizona State had its best offensive performance of the season against Washington State, and it will get a personnel boost for the Senior Day game with UCLA Saturday, as
Though he has caught five balls for 113 yards, two touchdowns and a team-best 22.6 yard-per-catch average (among players with more than one reception), Richardson's return would most likely be felt on special teams.
Richardson has had nine kickoff returns this season for 302 yards (33.6 yard average), including a 100-yarder for a touchdown.
As a punt returner, the senior has an 11.1 yard average, with a long of 48 yards. He will replace freshman Kyle Williams, who muffed a punt against Washington State, and Chris McGaha who also saw time at the position.
The team's other primary kick return specialist, along with Richardson, is Rudy Burgess. Not having either player available in recent weeks has been a burden on the Sun Devils' special teams.
Having taken care of off-field issues that resulted in Lewis not being with the team the last two weeks, coach Dirk Koetter said the senior would return for Senior Day.
"Jamaal has made a lot of progress on things he needed to get taken care of which are only going to benefit him in the long run," Koetter said.
In six games, Lewis has caught seven balls for 79 yards and one touchdown.
