Amazing stats: Big week, Big numbers

The Amazing Stats are stupefied by the bounty of great matchups on Saturday.

Seriously, we haven't seen gluttony like this since the last time pizza was delivered to our office.

Seven matchups of top 25 teams? TiVos will be working overtime across the land. And so will pizza-delivery employees.

There is no explanation for how all of these games came about on the same day. It's Christmas in September. It also probably means next week's schedule will require caffeine injections, but we'll worry about that when the time comes.

For now, let's get it going, with a focus on some of the biggies.

5
Number of field goals Auburn kicker John Vaughn missed in last year's game against LSU, which Auburn lost 20-17 in overtime.
10
Number of field goals Vaughn has made since, in 12 attempts, including six of seven so far this season. He already has hit from 52 and 55 yards in 2006.

Auburn kicker John Vaughn.

Michigan's Mike Hart.
22
Carries per game Mike Hart has averaged in his Michigan career.
4
Carries per game Hart has averaged in his two games vs. Notre Dame.

6 Road losses in Urban Meyer's first four years as a college head coach.
3 Road losses for Meyer in his first season in the SEC.
85 The national rank of Tennessee's pass offense last season.
5 The current national rank of Tennessee's pass offense.
656 Passing yards there would be in the Florida-Tennessee game if both teams hit their season averages.

Florida's Urban Meyer.

33 Career completions by Virginia Tech sophomore quarterback Sean Glennon.
31 Career completions by Glennon not to himself (he has caught two of his own passes that were batted by defenders. They've gone for minus-10 yards).
11-33-79-82
First downs, carries, rushing yards and passing yards Mississippi State has had in EACH of its first two games. Eerie. And bad.
