The second edition of the Rivals.com College Football Power Rankings features changes at the top of five different charts.

But the biggest moves involve two players who fell all the way off the charts through no fault of their own.

The season-ending injuries of Louisville running back Michael Bush and Clemson linebacker Anthony Waters caused major shakeups in the rankings of the nation's top players. Bush and Waters both entered the season as All-America candidates.

The new No. 1 players at their respective positions include Ohio State quarterback Troy Smith, Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson, Oregon State tight end Joe Newton, Texas defensive lineman Frank Okam and Mississippi linebacker Patrick Willis.

Smith supplanted Notre Dame quarterback Brady Quinn by going 18-of-25 for 297 yards and leading Ohio State to touchdowns on each of its first four series in a 35-12 victory over Northern Illinois.

Johnson caught seven passes for 111 yards in a 14-10 loss to Notre Dame. Johnson replaced Southern California's Dwayne Jarrett atop the receiver rankings.

Newton caught two touchdowns passes in his first game since missing the entire 2005 season with a leg injury. Newton, who replaced Arizona State's Zach Miller as our No. 1 tight end, caught 69 passes for 842 yards and eight touchdowns two years ago.

Okam helped Texas shut down North Texas star running back Jamario Thomas, who had been averaging 6.7 yards per carry against Big 12 teams. Okam replaced Clemson defensive end Gaines Adams at the No. 1 spot among defensive linemen.

Willis surged ahead of Penn State's Paul Posluszny in our linebacker rankings by recording 12 tackles and recovering a fumble in Mississippi's 28-25 victory over Memphis.

Individuals staying atop our charts for a second consecutive week included Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson, LSU defensive back LaRon Landry, Texas head coach Mack Brown, Auburn offensive coordinator Al Borges and Texas defensive coordinator Gene Chizik.
