On the money

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Leave it to the Golden State to be on the money.

More than 175 players have reserved a spot for the first ever Rivals.com Junior Day stop in California. Saturday's event at Anaheim Servite High School has players coming from as far away as Oakland and other points in Northern California, but the foundation will be from the Southland.

And what a foundation it is.

Southern Cal commitment and Rivals.com Junior All-American Chris Galippo of Servite will be in attendance at the event. Even though the stud linebacker committed to the Trojans back on February 1, other schools like Notre Dame and UCLA have remained in hot pursuit of the 6-foot-3, 235-pounder.

Orange Lutheran will have several players in attendance at the event, and this includes its two stars Aaron Corp and Michael Reardon.

Corp is a blue-chip quarterback that has offers from California, UCLA, Arizona, Nebraska, Oregon and heavy interest from USC and others. He will be one of the nation's most heavily recruited players.

Reardon, a 6-foot-6, 245-pound defensive end, has been busy this spring. He already had offers from Arizona and Ole Miss, but on Tuesday he added three new offers to his resume.

"Colorado State, Oregon State and Washington State offered me," Reardon said.

"I'm kind of surprised by all the new offers. I thought I would be getting a lot of attention, but I didn't think things would be going this good."

Los Angeles Crenshaw running back Raymond Carter, a recent UCLA, pledge is scheduled to be on hand at the event also. The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder picked up offers from UCLA, Arizona, Cal and USC before pledging recently to the Bruins. His teammate, and fellow Bruin commitment, Brian Price, has also confirmed his attendance at the event.

Los Angeles Dorsey outside linebacker Robert Mullins will be there with his family. The 6-foot-2, 205-pounder is considered one of the best defenders in the West, and his early offers from Arizona, Ole Miss and heavy attention from Oregon, USC, Texas and UCLA prove that.

Top 100 cornerback Antwoine Baker said late this week that he'll be at the event, giving Rivals.com a great opportunity to eyeball the 6-foot-1, 185-pound lockdown defender. Baker already has major offers from Arizona, Mississippi State and Nebraska.

Compton Dominguez cornerback David Ross also said he'll be at the Junior Day, and his name has been shooting up the charts with college coaches.

Baldwin Park standout athlete/running back Aaron Harris is a great looking player that said he'll be there on Saturday. Harris, who is 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds, has offers from UCLA and Washington.

Other big timers that are scheduled to be there are: Ventura St. Bonaventure cornerback Michael Williams, a top 100 prospect, Billy Bennett, an elite kicker that is already committed to Boston College, considered one of the nation's best, and tight end Nate Chandler could make the drive up from San Diego Mira Mesa.

Rivals.com's Junior Day program will feature two great speakers.

The keynote speaker is legendary Ventura St. Bonaventure coach Jon Mack.

Mack has established himself as one of the top coaches not just in California, but the entire nation. His talk to the players about leadership and the entire recruiting process has been well received at other events in California.

Also speaking will be Derrek Uhl, a former all-CIF linebacker that played at Colorado State. At CSU, he helped the Rams win the WAC championship and appear in three Holiday Bowls. In 1998, Uhl was named all-WAC and he spent three years as a graduate assistant for the Rams after that. He now coaches in Orange County and also runs the Orange County Big Man School, a camp geared specifically for offensive and defensive lineman.

Uhl will talk to the players about the transition from high school to college for athletes and what a typical day in the life of a college football player is like.
