Another good Florida RB
It's no secret that the state of Florida is loaded with talent at the running back position in the class of 2007. On the Panhandle, a new ball carrier has emerged as a potential elite prospect.
Lynn Haven (Fla.) Mosley running back Enrique Davis is a 6-foot-1, 210-pounder with good vision and deceptive speed. His size alone makes him a different prospect than some of the other Floridians at his position like Noel Devine, Armando Allen and Chris Rainey that have caused an early buzz.
Davis, who first caught the eye of StudentSportsFootball.com analyst Brian Stumpf has picked up early scholarship offers from Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Central Florida and is getting constant attention from other schools.
"There are a bunch of schools showing me a lot of interest," Davis said. "Florida State, Florida, Alabama, Miami, Tennessee and Oklahoma (along with the schools that have offered) have all been sending me text messages and sending me a lot of handwritten letters."
Currently Davis likes Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Miami (Fla.), Tennessee and Georgia in no particular order.
He recently visited Auburn unofficially.
"It went really well," he said. "I got to talk to the head coach Tommy Tuberville one-on-one and the running backs coach and my recruiting coach.
"We also got to go on the field and watch them practice."
It was Davis' second trip to the Yellowhammer State. He previously had visited Tuscaloosa for Alabama's Junior Day event.
"That was real nice," he said. "We got to talk to the coaches there and got to go on the sidelines. I got to talk to the running backs coach one-on-one and that was cool."
Davis also took an unofficial visit to Florida earlier for one of the Gators Junior Day events.
"When I went there, it was like me and all of the other top guys from Florida," he said. "I got to meet Urban Meyer and go up in the skybox. I talked to my recruiting coach from there, too.
"We got to watch a basketball game and I really liked the atmosphere."
Davis also was planning to visit Miami (Fla.) for the Hurricanes' Junior Day event, but couldn't make it.
"I hope to visit there very soon," he said.
