Warren may be California's top corner in 2007
Donovan Warren could be the top cornerback prospect in the state for the class of 2007.There aren't many schools anywhere in the country who are as consistent in putting out high caliber Div I prospects every year as Long Beach Poly (Calif.). Next year will be no exception as Jackrabbit defensive back
Warren, 6-0, 165 pounds will be a three year starter for Poly next year and has been the teams top cover man since his sophomore year. The athlete has good size, long arms and very good speed. Warren has natural cover skills and very good football instincts. He's an aggressive player with good ball skills and really goes after the football hard when it's in the air.
We've seen Warren play several times since his sophomore year as well as at number passing league games and have always been very impressed with his overall ability. There is no doubt in our eyes, he's a top 100 player for his class and will be recruited by all the majors in just a few short months.
"Right now, I'm hearing from a lot of different schools," Warren said. "No one has offered me yet but I've heard Arizona State could be one school that might early offer me. I'm also hearing from USC, Notre Dame, Cal, Florida State, Miami, Nebraska, Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan, Oregon and a ton of others.
"My favorites right now are USC and Notre Dame followed by Miami, Oregon, ASU and Cal. I'm going to take all five of my trips though and have no plans to commit early. The most important thing I'm looking for in a school is I want to somewhere and play early my freshman year. Location doesn't matter to me, I'll go anywhere but I just want to be able to come in and compete right away at a program that is going to be a winner."
Academically, Warren said he has already passed the SAT with an 880 score and is carrying a 3.2 GPA as well.
