Farrod Green Gets His Dream Offer and Jumps on It

It's been a long, hard road for Wesson tight end Farrod Green but it ends in his dream offer and a commitment to Mississippi State. After three days on MSU's campus as a camper, Green earned his spot in the Bulldogs' signing class.

"I think I did alright at the camp and coach Mullen told me this morning that I had an offer from MSU," Green said. "I talked to my family and this is where I want to be so I committed."

Mullen personally watched Green go through his camp and saw the potential in the big 6'3, 215-pound tight end. After much improvement and growing over the last year, the head coach knew he had something in him and brought him in for a final talk.

"It was good," Green said of the conversation. "He was telling me what I could be in three years, not just what he wants me to be next year. He's all about development. He wants me to be an All-American at MSU and thinks my work ethic and ball skills are great. He said I was still growing so I can still get even bigger."

"I'm still transitioning trying to get ready to be an SEC tight end," Green said. "I just want to get better. I'm somebody that's going to work hard and make plays. I just need to get better in my routes and get big in the weightroom."

MSU has always been number one in Green's heart and an offer he frankly didn't know if he'd ever reach. After a strong offseason, he's finally reached his ultimate goal of playing college football at the place he's always wanted to be.

"I've always wanted to play at MSU, it's a dream school," Green said. "The offer means a lot and now I'm ready to be a part of it. It's a family environment and everyone is just like brothers up there. I can't wait to be a part of it."

With relationships with most of the big-name prospects in the state, Green is now turning into recruiter for MSU in an already impressive class simply stating his primary target with one word: "Leo" (Lewis).

"It's just beginning," Green said of MSU's already top-10 ranked class. "There's still some big fishes in the pond that we've got to catch."

Green is the Bulldogs' sixth commitment for the class of 2015 in the last six days joining Maurice Smitherman, Nick Tiano, Kendall Jones, Harrison Moon and Malik Dear. He's the 17th member of the class and the ninth player from the state of Mississippi.
