USF Recruiting - breaking down the QB's

SOCIAL: Follow on Twitter | Friend on Facebook

As the countdown to signing day continues, we'll evaluate each position on the field, and take a look at both the players who are there and the ones the Bulls are going after. In this installment of 'Countdown to Signing Day' we take a look at the Quarterbacks.

Quarterback - the signal caller, the field general, the play-caller and arguably the most important position in all of sports. This position is crucially important to all teams, but especially to Willie Taggart and the USF Bulls this offseason due to the graduation of four-year-starter BJ Daniels. So where are the Bulls looking for a quarterback? Let's take a look at the Bulls options for next year at QB:

Active Quarterbacks
Matt Floyd
6-foot-1 | 206 | RS-F | Milton (Milton, Fla.)
Buzz: It wasn't a plan for Floyd to get any major reps in 2012, but a season-ending injury to starter BJ Daniels against Connecticut and an early injury to Bobby Eveld against Miami, left the Milton High School product the signal caller for the final three games for USF. Floyd, who beat out Bobby Eveld for the backup roll in spring practice before the start of 2012, will go into 2013 still looking for his first collegiate touchdown pass. The 6-5 redshirt freshman completed 78% (57-110) of his passes for 466 yards and five interceptions.

Bobby Eveld

6-foot-5 | 215 | Jr. | Tampa Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.)
Buzz: It wasn't quite the year that Bobby Eveld had hoped for in 2012. The third year player for USF struggled in spring practice and was beat out by teammate Matt Floyd for the role as backup to BJ Daniels. Eveld was redshirted after losing last year's spring battle, but his season wasn't done yet. After the season-ending injury to BJ Daniels, Eveld's redshirt was pulled and the Jesuit High School product was named the starter for USF's in state matchup with Miami. Unfortunately for Eveld, he suffered a separated left shoulder that ended the quarterback's abbreviated season. In his career, Eveld has completed 54% (82-150) of his passes for 837 yards, three touchdowns and seven interceptions in fourteen games.

Tommy Eveld

6-foot-5 | 184| Fr.| Tampa Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.)
Buzz: The younger brother of USF quarterback Bobby Eveld is basically a mystery to most Bulls fans. In 2012, Eveld was redshirted and his future on the Bulls roster is a bit unknown right now, especially with the new coaching staff. In his senior year at Jesuit High School, the Tampa product completed 65% (159-246) of his passes for 2,236 yards and 20 touchdowns while also rushing for 111 yards and 3 touchdowns.

Committed - Not Signed
Mike White

6-foot-5 | 195| verbal | University School (Davie, Fla.)
Buzz: White is the first quarterback from the 2013 signing class to commit to USF. While others have come and gone, White has seemed very dedicated to staying with his commitment with the Bulls. White committed to USF after leading the University School Suns to a victory in the FHSAA 3A state title game. White, who is listed as a pro-style quarterback, finished the year with the suns with 22 touchdowns and just 2 interceptions. The Bulls were not the only school that showed interest in the two-star recruit, White received offers from Eastern Kentucky, Florida A&M, Marshall, Stetson and Western Illinois before committing to USF. All signs point towards White signing with USF on February 6th.

Targeting - Not Committed
Asiantii Woulard

6-foot-3 | 205| Uncommitted| Winter Park (Winter Park, Fla.) - 6'3" 205lbs Winter Park, FL (Winter Park High School)

The Buzz: - Woulard would be the crown jewel of Willie Taggart's recruiting class. Once a verbal commit to USF, Woulard de-committed from USF after Skip Holtz was fired. Since his decision to de-commit, Woulard has shown interest in Kentucky, Tennessee and N.C. State. The four-star recruit has received fourteen offers and has taken official visits to Kentucky and NC State. The Florida Gators have been reported to be kicking the tires on Woulard, but have not offered to the Winter Park product. Woulard has made it very clear that he will not made his decision yet, but the Bulls are still in the mix. At Winter Park High School in 2012, Woulard and the Wildcats went 4-6 in a season that ended with the quarterback breaking his ankle in the final game of the year.

Darkhorse candidate: [db]John O'Korn[/db] - St. Thomas Aquinas (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) - committed to Houston
