Pack tops Cleveland State, 80-63
NC State (6-2) held this year's lone game at Reynolds' Coliseum on Saturday afternoon, and came away with a win over Cleveland State, 80-63. Junior C.J. Leslie led the way with 19 points and eight rebounds, while frontcourt mate Richard Howell notched his fourth double-double of the year, finishing with 17 points and 10 rebounds.
The team plays at least one game at their former home almost every year, and the team moved to 14-0 at the historic site since moving to PNC Arena.
Also scoring in double figures for the Pack were freshman T.J. Warren, who came off the bench after starting the last two games and finished with 16, classmate Rodney Purvis, who started in place of Warren and tallied 11, and junior Lorenzo Brown, who notched 10 points and six assists.
The Wolfpack took a 47-32 lead into halftime, thanks to an 86.7 percent shooting effort (13-of-15) in the first half, while they finished the game at a 78.3 percent clip (18-23).
Cleveland State (6-3) was led by Charlie Lee's 15 points, while Devon Long tallied 12 and Tim Kamczyc finished with 10.
The Vikings actually held a lead for most of the first four minutes before a three-point play by Leslie gave the home team a 12-11 lead at the 15:17 mark. With the exception of a 13-13 tie, the Pack led for the rest of the game, and by at least 10 in the entire second half.
Today's game kicked off a six-game homestand for the ACC's preseason favorite, and they are in action next on Dec. 15 against Norfolk State at PNC Arena.
