Bell savors final college moment

TWITTER- FACEBOOK-

AUBURN -- T'Sharvan Bell was a lingerer.

He didn't want to leave Jordan-Hare Stadium last week after the game ended, walking to the opposite end zone to take pictures with fans.

He didn't want to leave Tiger Walk on Saturday afternoon. One of the few players not to grab his bags and head straight inside, Bell lingered outside, taking in every aspect of his final Tiger Walk.

"At this point, I'm just glad to arrive to the stadium safely," Bell said. "I see all the fans out there showing love. It's my last game, so I'm really just trying to soak in the moment."

He didn't want to leave the field inside Bryant-Denny Stadium even after the 49-0 loss to Alabama Saturday night, knowing that his college career would end once he took off the white No. 22 jersey.

And his last season wasn't all pretty.

After earning 10 starts his junior year before suffering a season-ending knee injury, Bell was regulated to a reserve role for the majority of this fall. As Auburn's most outspoken leader, Bell mentored young cornerbacks Joshua Holsey and Jonathan Jones all season.

Even after a rough individual season and a 3-9 record, Bell said the one that Auburn can't do is listen to the outside world.

"Sticking together is the big thing we have to do," he said. "We have to stick together as a family because only the strong survive. And we have a strong family."

Sticking together through an 0-8 SEC record is easy to say, but hard to do. But Bell said that he didn't think the record was an accurate depiction of Auburn's ability.

"I definitely think we're closer than what the record shows," Bell said. "We lost a lot of close games. Our whole season turned based on 5-6 plays. I don't think we're as bad as the record looks. There will definitely be better days ahead for Auburn."

Even after a 49-0 defeat, Bell said Auburn will be back.

"I believe that no matter what happens I believe that Auburn will come from up under what's going on right now."
