Game Balls: North Texas
Following each game CougarsDen.com will recognize the standout performers by handing out our game balls. Here are the game balls from Houston's 44-21 victory over the North Texas Mean Green.
Charles Sims: The redshirt junior running back was clearly the top overall performer from Saturday night's game for Houston. Sims had no trouble finding holes on his way to 265 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns and earns the CougarsDen MVP of the night.
Kenneth Farrow: The redshirt freshman had himself a really nice game on Saturday night. Farrow rushed for 85 yards on eight carries in his reserve role and also had a key block on a Charles Sims 53-yard run down to North Texas' 12-yard line which led to a Cougar touchdown that put the Coogs up 41-21 at the time.
David Piland: The sophomore gunslinger continues his weekly improvement and had probably his best managed game of the year. Piland connected on 31-of-41 passes for 321 yards and two Scores hitting eight different targets without a single turnover. He also chipped in with a five yard rushing score.
Phillip Steward: The senior linebacker was business as usual for the Cougars. Steward was tied for a team leading 12 tackles, including a big stop on 4th and goal snubbing North Texas of late score deep in Houston territory.
Shane Ros: The Junior wide receiver didn't necessarily have the most yards of the night, but caught everything thrown his way including a few key first downs. He finished the night with four receptions for 61 yards. Ros was also key on special teams with four tackles limiting North Texas' dangerous Brelan Chancellor.
