Pachall suspended indefinitely after DWI charge
FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU quarterback Casey Pachall has been suspended indefinitely after he was arrested by the Fort Worth Police Department for suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
Pachall was pulled over just before 1 a.m. Thursday morning after allegedly running a stop sign and was eventually arrested and booked for a DWI, Sgt. Pedro Criado said
He was initially jailed in Fort Worth, but was transferred to the jail in Mansfield, Texas later Thursday morning, as is common procedure, according to Criado.
Now, the junior quarterback's 2012 season is in jeopardy. TCU head coach Gary Patterson released a statement Thursday morning, confirming Pachall's suspension.
"Casey Pachall has been suspended indefinitely from competition," the statement said. "My job as a head coach is to win games, educate our kids and help them with their lives."
This is Pachall's second run-in with the law this year, after admitting a failed drug test and previous drug use to the Fort Worth Police Department. He was not suspended after the first offense, but issued a statement before TCU's fall camp kicked off.
"I truly do apologize for what's been said and done on my behalf lately, and in the past as well," Pachall said at the time. "I've made mistakes. I know I'm not perfect. But I've learned from those mistakes and I'm still learning. It's a day-to-day process for me trying to be a better person and trying to be a better role model and leader for this team and this community and this university."
So far this season, Pachall was 64-for-97 with for 948 yards and 10 touchdowns and 1 interception. Redshirt freshman Trevone Boykin is listed as Pachall's backup. Boykin has thrown for 74 yards and 1 touchdown while rushing for 122 yards and a touchdown in limited action in the Frogs' first four games.
