After a weekend visit to the ULM campus for the final senior showcase, Dayton, Texas offensive lineman Matt Oubre pulled the trigger and became the Warhawk's third commitment for the 2013 class.
"I called him (Head Coach Todd Berry) and told him I was 110% committed," he said. "It's a new page in my life and I'm so excited to be a Warhawk."
Oubre, a 6'1" 283 all-district guard for the Broncos, was all but ready to commit following his offer from the ULM coaching staff over the weekend. Only his dad's final input was keeping him from pulling the trigger.
So what was his dad's reaction?
"He was 110% committed too, and told me that he really liked the school and that if I was sure to go ahead and commit," Oubre said.
ULM was his selection, beating out an offer from New Mexico State.
As for what sold him on ULM he said it was the entire ULM experience.
"I really like their swagger, the coaching staff," he said. "I finally got to meet coach (Steve) Farmer and we really hit it off, so I know it's the right choice and can't wait to get there."
Oubre joins previous commitments Bivins Caraway III and Trey Martin. Verbal commitments are non-binding, and subject to change, although Oubre says that's not likely to happen.
"I'm 110% on my commitment," he said. "I don't want to go to a big city like Austin, College Station, or Lubbock. I'm from a small town, and feel that ULM is the right sized school and place for me to be."
