Drake bumped up again

As reported here by Ryan Snyder of our BWI staff Wednesday evening, Penn State redshirt sophomore wide receiver Curtis Drake was not able to participate in Monday's and Wednesday's Penn State spring practice sessions.

He was seen at Monday's practice session on crutches and it was reported to BWI by our contacts that Drake had swelling on his left leg and was experiencing pain in his leg, but it did not appear that Drake had re-broken his tibia bone at approximately the same place he did last August in preseason practice.

BWI has now been told that after an MRI it has been determined that Drake has indeed suffered a hairline fracture of his tibia bone near his ankle and will be held out of the rest of spring practice.

Originally, Drake's injury was reported to BWI to be a non-contact injury, but BWI was told late Thursday evening that the injury took place in Saturday's first practice session when his ankle was stepped on by one of Penn State's defensive backs during a passing drill.

It was reported to BWI this evening the break was a hairline fracture and should normally heal in a 12 to 14 week period of time, but there is some concern about Drake's rehab because of the calcium deficiency that the Penn State medical staff discovered with Drake's bones, which was reported to our Lions Den subscribers in an article here in the Lions Den in mid-February.

When BWI receives any additional updates regarding Drake's situation, we'll report it here in the Lions Den immediately.
