Croom considering MSU

During the school year, there is little down time for Norcross (Ga.) High School junior Jason Croom and for good reason. The 6-foot-5 and 215-pound receiver just finished up a successful season on the hardwood and is now gearing up for track and spring football.

Already owning several BCS offers in football, Croom is hoping to continue his team success at Norcross.

"We just got through with basketball and we won the state championship," said Croom, who had 30 catches for 506 yards and four touchdowns last year. "I played pretty good and actually, I wasn't going to play at first. Luckily, I stuck with it and now I have a championship ring.

"We just started with track, too, and it's my first year with track, too. I am running the 200 meters and the 4 x 400 relay. Then I am also working out and doing all the normal things with the football team. I am really working on getting faster and improving my hands and route running."

Croom has also managed to find time for a few visits to college campuses and his latest trip was to the Sunshine State. Croom currently owns offers from Mississippi State, Auburn, Arkansas, Illinois, Louisville, North Carolina and Southern Miss.

"It's been a good experience and blessing to get these early offers," said Croom. "It is good motivation and makes you want to work even harder. My most recent junior day was at Florida and it was a good trip and I got to meet some of their coaches.

"I am also planning to go visit Mississippi State and Alabama, too. I have to set up specific dates to visit those schools and I am anxious to see how all of that goes."

And concerning the Bulldogs, Croom said he has a good relationship with MSU receivers coach Angelo Mirando.

"I like all the Mississippi State coaches and I really like Coach Mirando," noted Croom. "He is a young coach and that is a good thing and we relate well to each other. I just want to see more of their program this spring and go see for myself."

In the early stages of his recruitment, Croom noted that MSU, Louisville and North Carolina are showing him the most interest as of now. He said he has no leader and wants to continue his visits to give him more to judge on with these programs.

"I really don't have a leader right now," said Croom. "I am just checking everybody out and everyone is even."
