Touring SEC Junior Days

Memphis University School junior Ben Still has made a recent showing at a couple of SEC junior days and is eying a few other visits to observe SEC teams involved in spring practices. The 6-foot-3 and 295-pound offensive guard has visited Mississippi State and Arkansas and enjoyed both visits.

"Both were good trips and both have good programs that are winning," said Still. "I also plan to go watch Ole Miss and LSU in spring practice. I also want to get back to Mississippi State for spring practice and I just have to try to fit that trip in, too."

And concerning his visit to Mississippi State, Still said he enjoyed visiting with the Bulldogs' O-line boss John Hevesy.

"I thought it was pretty nice and I got to spend a lot of time with Coach Hevesy," said Still. "I really enjoyed visiting with him. He was talking to me about what he looks for in recruits. I like how he is a straight shooter and doesn't feed you a bunch of bull. I was impressed what all he had to say. They talked to me about offensive guard but I am not sure yet if that is the position they are recruiting me to play.
"We also got to see the locker room and then went to the basketball game. We also ate lunch in the M-Club building that was nice, too.

In the early going of his recruitment, Still has collected an offer from Ole Miss and is drawing other SEC interest from Auburn, Mississippi State, Arkansas, LSU, Tennessee as well as Memphis. Still said getting opportunities to visit schools this spring should give him a better idea of what to look for and who may stand out to him in the future.

"It is good to see these schools and it helps to get to know the coaches better," said Still. "I don't have a favorite and I am just looking at everyone the same. I do like the SEC but I am just seeing what other offers I may get down the road."
