Warhawks pass Mean Green

Warhawks pass Mean Green

ULM Quarterback Trey Revell made a strong return to the starting throwing for a career high 282 yards and a pair of touchdowns, as the Warhawks snapped their two-game losing streak with a 33-6 conference win over the North Texas Mean Green.

Revell went long on the second play from scrimmage, as he connected with LaGregory Sapp for a 46 yard pass to put ULM on the North Texas 35 yard line.  The opening 11 play drive would cover 86 yards and end with a Frank Goodin 1-yard score.  It was Goodin's 11th of the season, and put the Warhawks on top to never look back.  Revell would end the night completing 14 of 22 and throwing a late interception.

The Mean Green would cut the Warhawk lead to 6-3 after a 30 yard Jeremy Knott field goal just before the end of the first quarter, but could never pull any closer.

Sapp's 28-yard reception in the fourth quarter set a new career-high in receiving yards. He finished the contest with seven receptions for 187 yards, his third consecutive game with over 100-yards receiving. It was also the second-consecutive game in which a Warhawk receiver had caught two touchdown passes and the third game of the season. The two TD receptions also marked Sapp's first multi-touchdown game of his career.

Goodin ended the night with a second score just before the finale of the game from 25 yards out, and ended the night with his third 100-yard rushing performance with 102.  He now has 2,188 career rushing yards, which is 142 yards shy of tying fourth place all-time in ULM history with Nathan Johnson (1977-80).  It also moved him into a tie for third place with Steven Jyles (2002-05) in ULM history with 21 career rushing scores. Entering the contest, Goodin ranked 13th in the country in rushing touchdowns this season.

Senior safety Greg James had a career night, as he collected three interceptions in the contest.  These interceptions, his first since the 2008 Louisiana-Lafayette game (10/4/08), moved the Monroe, La. native into sole possession of the top spot in ULM and Sun Belt Conference history for career interceptions with 16.

The Warhawks now return home for the first time in over a month, as they will host Western Kentucky (0-9, 0-5) in a 3pm kickoff game.
