Graham offers VA CB

Hampton (VA) Bethel three-star cornerback Rijo Walker picked up his first offer from the SEC in the form of a tender from South Carolina.

The 5-foot-10, 171-pounder was happy to receive the offer from the Gamecocks.

"It came in the mail Monday," he said. "I'm excited about it."

The Gamecocks join two other programs in extending full scholarships to the talented defensive back.

"NC State and East Carolina are my other offers," he said.

Walker, who racked up 11 interceptions during his sophomore campaign, has already taken visits.

"I've been to Maryland, Duke, NC State, and Virginia Tech already," he said.

One program stood out.

"The campus I was most impressed with was Virginia."

More visits are on deck for the Mid-Atlantic defender.

"I want to go to South Carolina, Tennessee, and East Carolina," he said.

Walker has a strong interest in learning more about USC.

"They have a great coach in (Steve) Spurrier," he said. "And they play in arguably the best conference in the nation."

Assistant coach Jay Graham, who recruits Virginia for the Gamecocks, made a good first impression on the youngster.

"When we spoke the other day, he was full of excitement," he said. "I felt comfortable talking to him. I can only imagine how he is on the field."

Walker likes the in-state school but admits he is wide-open.

"I like Virginia right now because I've seen their campus," he said. "I want to go and see some more schools before I have a clear cut leader. I got a good vibe at UVA but my options are definitely open."

There are a few factors that Walker will consider to make his decision.

"I'm looking for a good academic support team, a good coaching staff, and a campus I can feel comfortable with for four years."
