Four-star DE adding more offers

Madison Central (Miss.) defensive end Carlton Martin picked up his first three offers from the three major instate schools.

But once the 6-foot-2, 258-pounder was tabbed as a four-star prospect by Rivals his recruitment has picked up with three more offers.

Martin held offers from Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Southern Miss but has recently added competition from Baylor, Arkansas and Alabama.

Madison Central is loaded with talent this year with several recruits bringing in coaches from around the south this spring. A total of eight Jaguars are listed on Rivals including Martin and defensive tackle Byron Bennett who are listed as four-stars.

Martin got a chance to catch up with several schools that are recruiting him over the past few weeks.

"Recruiting is going pretty good," Martin said. "A couple of coaches have came by and we've talked a little bit about football. We didn't have spring practice but a coach from Southern Miss, Alabama, Arkansas, Baylor and Ole Miss came by."

Martin also took the time to take the short trip north to Starkville to check out Mississippi State during their spring game. He has the Bulldogs right in the mix with everyone else on his list for his commitment.

"Mississippi State is pretty much the same as everybody else," Martin said. "I went to their spring game. That was my first time to come to Starkville. It was nice. I liked the campus and all the football stuff. That screen they've got was big."

Martin was impressed with what he saw from the defensive line coached by David Turner.
