Will talented tackle check out Vols?

The offers are piling up with greater regularity for Torrian Wilson, but that doesn't mean the mammoth offensive lineman from Miami's powerful Northwestern High School doesn't still get excited with each additional opportunity.

"Right now, the recruiting process is going really good," said the 6-foot-4-inch, 315-pounder tackle. "Recently, I received offers from Michigan and Tennessee. Right now I have eight offers."

And while Wilson expects more schools to follow suit -- Alabama, Florida and Georgia all have shown increased interest, the athletic but at times physically overpowering Wilson was particularly glad to get an offer from the Vols.

"I was very excited when they offered me," Wilson said. "I knew Tennessee is a big school, a school that likes to run the football. It excited me when they offered."

With an obvious vested interest to block for dynamic running backs, Wilson said he definitely took notice last week when 2009 Rivals.com No. 1 player Bryce Brown signed with the University of Tennessee.

"Yes, that does catch my attention. Bryce Brown is good back, one of best backs in nation," Wilson said. "I think he will be a top back at Tennessee, and I think they are going to have a good backfield."

Though Wilson feels comfortable in pass protection, he believes run-blocking allows him to best showcase his strongest skills.

"I feel that I bring that nasty attitude," Wilson said. "I feel that when I'm on the field, I'm a good run blocker, but I can pass block too. I'm just a better run-blocker.

"I think it's because I'm just physical. I was just born with that physical attitude and think that comes natural."

Wilson, who first began to fill out his frame when he grew to become a 270-pound 6-footer near the end of his seventh-grade year, expects to get a closer look at Tennessee in the future.

"Yes, I plan on going to Tennessee for an official visit," Wilson said. "I don't really have any unofficial visits lined up right now.

"Right now, I'm just taking my time. I'm just trying to take the process slow and let my mom and my dad try to help figure it out for me. See what they're feeling. I'm taking their opinion into consideration. Me, my mom and we'll pray about it also. We have to find best school with best education."

Wilson, who will attend the Nike camp this weekend at the University of Miami and who recently competed in an Under Armour combine, is a four-star prospect and member of Rivals.com's 250 for 2010.
