Jones on Ducks' wish list

Oaks Christian athlete Malcolm Jones had a fantastic junior season on both sides of the ball, though his preference for college is running back. That won't be a problem. As a junior, Jones put up huge numbers on offense. In ten games, Jones rushed for 1504 yards on 149 carries for a whopping 10.1 ypc average. He also scored 26 touchdowns in their ten games and had at least one run longer than 30 yards in eight of them.

Jones knows his strengths. Asked what he thought were his primary running back assets, Jones answered with two specific areas.

"The best part of my game is my leg strength and my field vision."

Playing linebacker for defensive coordinator and former NFL great Clay Matthews, whose linebacker sons play at Oregon and USC, Jones has certainly been taught excellent technique. Though the Lions didn't use Jones extensively on that side of the ball, he still averaged five tackles per game in eight defensive appearances.

With great running back size at 6'0", 220 pounds, the California star athlete has gotten the attention of the Oregon staff.

"Coach Bellotti e-mailed me and talked to my coach," Jones informed Duck Sports Authority. "Coach Bellotti told my coach that I would be getting an offer. Then he offered me a scholarship on September 1st. He has he e-mailed me a few time since. I have also been in contact with Coach Kelly."
