Hood makes a name for himself

Of the six Missouri players headed to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis this week, none has risen up mock draft boards as quickly as defensive tackle Ziggy Hood. PowerMizzou.com wrapped up our Tiger previews of the combine when we spoke with Hood in Atlanta prior to his departure for Indianapolis.

PM.com: Looking at all the mock drafts and that type of thing, your name is one that really has shot up the boards. What did you do down at the Senior Bowl to turn heads and what kind of feedback have you gotten since then?

ZH: "Real positive feedback as far as going up in the draft. I'm just doing the right things. People really weren't expecting me to do too well, I really didn't have a name till I got there. Put myself on the map down there."

PM.com: I know everyone just wants a shot, but do you have goals for yourself as far as being a first-rounder, first-day pick, whatever?

ZH: "It's everyone's goal to be on the first day, but for me I don't really care. It's just a blessing to be in this draft process."

PM.com: I think Mizzou is one of three teams to have six guys or more invited. What does that say about the program?

ZH: "That goes to show how much the program has changed, how much people believe in the program when you've got that many players that really are starting to believe and see themselves in the NFL. That just shows what the coaches have done for us, all the hard work we've put in."
