South Carolina Preview
The window of opportunity for Mississippi State to add their third Southeastern Conference Western Division title is closing.
The Bulldogs are three games behind division leading LSU with five games remaining. MSU will have a chance to keep things alive tonight when they host Eastern Division leader South Carolina at 7 p.m.
The Bulldogs enter tonight's contest with a 6-4 mark in conference play and are 16-9 overall. State won last year's meeting between the two schools 61-56 in overtime at Columbia. They also hold the series 11-8 despite the Gamecocks taking three of the last four games. So far this season, the Bulldogs are 4-0 against teams from the SEC East.
Mississippi State is on a two-game losing skid after back-to-back losses to LSU and Auburn last week. The Bulldogs are averaging 74.8 points per game this season and are shooting 44.4-percent from the field. They have knocked down 37.3-percent from 3-point range as well at hit 70.8-percent from the free throw line. MSU leads the SEC in blocked shots averaging 8.2 per game and surrender only 67.9 points to their opponents.
