Tapping into a rich history in Valdosta
VALDOSTA, Ga. - Church may be the only thing more important than football to the vast majority of folks in this South Georgia commerce center, which is one reason why it earned its "Titletown, USA" distinction last summer.
Football put Valdosta on the map, long before the anointment that came as a result of ESPN's fan poll.
Oddly enough, the Florida State football program - just 90 minutes away - has had failed to reap the benefits of its proximity to the town, which has produced 28 Georgia high school and six national championships.
