Hopkins changes his leaderboard
Galena Park North Shore offensive tackle Trey Hopkins is one of the top linemen in Texas for the class of 2010. The 6-foot-4, 260-pound junior has impressed schools across the country with his combination of strength and athleticism.
This past Saturday, the early Rivals250 to Watch member made it to his second junior day at Texas A&M, which was the first school to extend him an offer. He says that, since he was already familiar with the campus and what they had to offer, it was more of a chance to get to know the coaches better.
"It was good; it was really good," Hopkins said of the junior day. "I got to speak with the coaches a lot more. Since I had already been there for a junior day, I just got to talk with them more this time. There wasn't anything that was new to us. We basically just got a lot more comfortable with the coaches and with the school and everything.
"The basketball game was good, too. We were all just talking about how involved the fans were and everything. It didn't matter the score or anything, they were just crazy the whole time."
As one of the Aggies' top targets at any position, Hopkins had a chance to speak one-on-one with A&M head coach Mike Sherman, who has a background in coaching offensive linemen.
