Aggies sign top 25 class

Wednesday marked the opening day of the early National Signing period for basketball in the class of 2009 and Texas A&M received three Letters-of-Intent from three players in the 2009 Top 150. It marked the first time since A&M signed Donald Sloan, Derrick Roland and Bryan Davis in the class of 2006 that the Aggies pulled off that feat.

But that class, even though it forms the nucleus of the current Aggies, was signed by former head coach Billy Gillispie. This one was signed and completely credited to new A&M head coach Mark Turgeon, proving that the Aggies are sticking around in the elite of the Big 12 conference.

"We've added some length, we've added some athleticism and we've added some skill with our first three signings," Turgeon said. "We feel great about our class."

In all, A&M signed three players in the 2009 Top 150 with another committed player in the Top 150 yet to sign.
