Iowa State tries to overcome with Wilcox

It will be tough for Iowa State to overcome the faith connection of one of its official visitors from this past weekend. But even if Brad Wilcox ends up signing with BYU, the Cyclone staff can know that it did everything right on Wilcox's visit last weekend and has done so throughout the recruiting process.

The 6-foot-7, 265-pound Wilcox, an offensive tackle from Edmond (Okla.) North is Mormon and that makes Brigham Young University the solid favorite for his commitment. Wilcox has said that BYU is the team to beat and it makes sense. But that hasn't stopped Iowa State from putting its best foot forward with him.

"I liked it, I like the coaches a lot and I like their facilities," Wilcox said after seeing Iowa State in person Friday through Sunday. "We had dinner with the team at their hotel and we got to watch the game on Saturday and tour the facilities. I like Iowa State. I'm not really looking at their team now, I am looking down the road."

Wilcox said BYU, Iowa State and Oregon State have offered him a scholarship and he's knows Texas Tech has talked to his high school coaches about him, too. He said BYU will be "tough to overcome" but that ISU is also understanding that he will take a two-year mission trip out of high school.
