Night of the Grateful Red

MADISON, Wis. - And just like that, the Badger basketball season is underway. Friday night was the first chance for fans to see the 2008-09 Wisconsin hoops squad and a healthy crowd made their way to the Kohl Center to do just that. The event featured player introductions, a three-point shootout and a dunk contest.

The following is a look back at the "Night of the Grateful Red:"

Player introductions:

Every player, including the team's five new freshman scholarship players, was introduced individually and performed a little dance at center court. Each player, after making their way through the crowd, met up with a member of the UW dance squad showcased their moves.

The best: Trevon Hughes was probably the smoothest dancer of the team. At the end of his jig, he was carried off his dance team partner. Overall, it was a great dance and was rewarded with nine from the judges.

The "worst:" Jason Bohannon looked like he was unsure of the choreography, which made for a hilarious dance. In the end, nobody was bad and everyone seemed to have a great time watching the players dance.

This contest had the standard shootout format, although there was only one round so the highest score won.
