Alabama DB likes Rebs' style of play
Keiron Wilson is expecting a scholarship offer from Ole Miss when he makes his way to Oxford this weekend for the Rebels' homecoming date against South Carolina.
Ole Miss just might need to make room on its commitment list for the 6-foot, 185-pound safety from Mobile (Davidson), Ala., as well.
"I'm real close," said Wilson, who is also looking at Auburn, Southern Illinois, Arkansas State, and South Alabama. "I want to see how their coaching is, how they treat me and if it feels like home."
Wilson will take his unofficial visit to Ole Miss with his dad, Tommy Norwood. He has high expectations of the Rebels, especially after watching this past Saturday's 31-30 win over then-No. 4 Florida at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. The Rebels' win in The Swamp was a big topic of conversation earlier Monday when he spoke via telephone with Ole Miss wide receivers coach Ron Dickerson Jr.
"I watched it. Coach Dickerson just called me and asked me if I watched it. It was a good game. It surprised me. I saw a lot of excitement from Ole Miss, that coaching staff and the players. I think they're close to turning the corner. I also like the way they use their safeties. I like how they blitz."
Wilson said he talked to Ole Miss coach Houston Nutt last week and Nutt indicated that an offer from the Rebels was forthcoming. Wilson said Davidson coach Fred Riley talked to Nutt as well and forwarded a similar sentiment.
Wilson, who already has 40 tackles this season for the Warriors, was recently named the (Mobile) Press-Register prep player of the week.
