News not good
Sophomore left tackle Trinton Sturdivant will miss the rest of the year after tearing his ACL, MCL and PCl during Monday's scrimmage at Sanford Stadium, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed Tuesday morning to UGASports.
Redshirt freshman Josh Davis played the rest of the day with the No. 1 unit at left tackle after Sturdivant went down.
"It was a pass rush, (Matthew) Stafford in the pocket, here come the ends , the tackles try to push them by the quarterback, the quarterback steps up in the pocket and those guys, all four of them, kind of ran into each other," Georgia coach Mark Richt said Monday evening. "We had the ends coming hard and the tackles engaged trying to push them by the quarterback and as the ends were squeezing in trying to push them out, the quarterback stepped up like he should. I didn't exactly see who ran into whom."
Richt indicated Monday any one of the team's current linemen could assume the starting role. He said that list would include Davis, Vince Vance, freshman Cordy Glenn, and sophomore Clint Boling. Starting right tackle Kiante Tripp could also be considered.
"It makes you sick. It's just said," Richt said. "You never want to see anybody get hurt. It's just sad."
