Clarke pulls the trigger

The Buckeyes saw a Maryland cornerback come and go with the commitment and subsequent decommitment of Darrell Givens but now the Ohio State recruiting effort landed yet another Maryland corner and even though Dominic Clarke may not be as widely known, he is now the 16th commit in the class of 2009 for the Buckeyes.

The 5-foot-10, 178-pounder out of Frederick (Md.) Tuscarora high school saw his stock starting to rise with offers from schools like Boston College, Maryland, Stanford, UVA, Navy and Vanderbilt but his visit to Columbus for the spring game made a lasting impression and ultimately won Clarke over.

The newest Buckeye gave his pledge directly to Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel on Sunday afternoon. While the coaching staff was talking to Clarke about recruiting Clarke went into his bag and put on an Ohio State cap and said that he wanted to be part of the class.

Clarke has a great mixture of athletics and academics with 4.41 speed in the 40-yard dash and a 3.75 GPA in the classroom.

We will have plenty more on Clarke's commitment this afternoon here at BuckeyeGrove.com
