Tough decision ahead for UGA signee
Everyone knew about the possibility of Xavier Avery never making it to Athens due to being selected high in the upcoming Major League Baseball Draft, but he is not the only one the Dawgs could lose. Another football signee had an outstanding senior year on the diamond and he expects to go early in the June 5 draft as well.
"We got beat out in the third round of the playoffs by Lovett, but we had a good season," said Sanders Commings.
The two sport star out of Augusta led the Patriots in about every offensive category in 2008.
"I hit right at .550 and I had 16 homeruns, 20 doubles, and 30 stolen bases. I think I had a good year and I hit the ball real well most of the season."
He hit the ball well enough to have to Major League teams talking to him about being one of their top picks in the upcoming draft.
"The Cincinnati Reds came to my house on Tuesday night and they told me they would like to take me with their second or third round pick," Commings said.
"I have also talked to the Arizona Diamondbacks and they said they like me in the fourth or fifth round if I am there."
