Two new offers for Georgia athlete

Atlanta (Ga.) Washington prospect Branden Smith is one of the most versatile and athletic players in the entire southeast. His stock is rapidly on the rise and he picked up two recent offers to add to a growing list.

"I received West Virginia and Arkansas offers in the mail," Smith said. "It was a big surprise. I sent my highlight tape to them. I guess they were impressed by my highlights. So those are schools I'm going to try to find out more about."

Smith is dangerous with the ball in his hands and might be even more valuable keeping the ball out of opposing wide receivers' hands. Consequently, Smith is being recruited as an athlete.

"Every college I talk to says that they want me on both sides of the ball," he said. "They say it's my decision. I like playing both so it really doesn't matter what side I play on. I'm going to call the coach tomorrow and talk to him and ask him questions and stuff."

Smith has had the opportunity to see some schools on unofficial visits this Spring. The three schools he has taken in have been Georgia, Auburn and most recently, Clemson.

"I went to Clemson last weekend," he said. "It went good. I got a chance to talk to one on one with James Davis, talk to the coaches and the players. It went real good."

With the additions of Arkansas and West Virginia offers, Smith has two more schools he thinks may be close to joining the race.

"Georgia Tech and Florida, I believe they'll offer me soon."

With no leaders right now, Smith is staying open to all of the programs recruiting him and plans on waiting on his official visits before making any decisions.
