Sooners have news for Scheelhaase

With recruiting getting started earlier and earlier, the coaches are often well aware of potential prospects by the midpoint of their sophomore seasons. However, some players are just blessed to be in the right place in the time, and even beyond that there are players like Kansas City Rockhurst superstar Nathan Scheelhaase who, thanks to his father's playing days, has been known since the time he could throw a football.

His father, Nate Creer, made many friends during his years as a defensive back at Iowa several of which have gone onto great heights as coaches. None has excelled beyond former Hawkeye defensive back, and current Sooner head coach, Bob Stoops.

While much has been made of Stoops and Creer's relationship and the potential effects on Scheelhaase, one coach has been greatly under appreciated, perhaps due to his recent inclusion among the staff.

"I got to hear a lot of old stories, now that coach Jay Norvell is there. My dad and coach Norvell hadn't seen each other since like 1986 when they left Iowa," Scheelhaase said of the most recent Sooner hire.
