Spring football: What have we learned?

Prior to spring football, took a look at five key position battles that could shape up over the 15 spring practices. The Tigers will resume spring ball on Tuesday afternoon, so we thought we'd take a mid-spring look at what we've learned at these spots:

Cornerback: We've learned there may not be quite as much competition as we thought for the starting spots. Carl Gettis and Castine Bridges have pretty much proven to be the two best with their play so far this spring. Things will get interesting when the new signees hit campus in fall as far as the backup spots, but the starters seem to be solid.

Punter: This is the place we've learned the least. Most of Missouri's practices have been indoors, where punts generally hit the rafters and it's tough to tell much. All we know is that this question is unlikely to have an answer by the end of spring ball. The walk-ons look ready to at least give Jake Harry a decent push.

The Tigers return to practice at 3:30 on Tuesday and, as always, will provide complete coverage.
