Blake talks about his visit to Texas

It has been two months since Austin (Texas) High wide receiver Emory Blake first visited The University of Texas at their first Junior Day event.

Following that particular visit, the fleer-footed four-star receiver admitted that the Longhorns were at the top of his wish list. Since that time, Blake has backed off of any comments that would imply that the Longhorns are a leader in his recruitment, but there's no question that a significant interest exists.

After returning to the 40 Acres on Wednesday afternoon, Blake was reminded why he felt so strongly about the program after his first visit.

"It was a good vibe," Blake said. "I like going down there and watching. I like how at the practice everyone was up-beat and supported each other. The coaches were great. I got a chance to talk with Coach Davis, Coach Brown and the wide receivers coach. I also know some of the guys on the team like Mark (Buchanan), Matt Nader and Justin Tucker, and I was able to talk with them."

After receiving an offer from Oregon last week, Blake's mission on Wednesday was pretty simple.

"I just wanted to go out there and show my face and let them know that I am interested and that I am willing to go there. I went there to learn how they do stuff and how they operate their practices."

Although the Longhorns haven't offered Blake, the staff gave him quite a bit of special attention throughout practice and indicated to him that their interest in potentially bringing him into the fold was genuine.

"Coach Davis was like, 'You are coming to the camp, right?' I told him that I would be there. They just made me feel very welcome," Blake said. "Coach Brown had me stand behind me while they called plays so I could see the offense and how the plays were called."

In the coming weeks Blake has visits scheduled for Florida State and Tulsa, but there's not much lined up beyond that. Most of his focus will be on finishing out the track season, going through spring drills in football and putting a pretty little bow on his junior year in high school.

"District is in two weeks," Blake said. "Florida State is having a Junior Day, so I'm going to go out there. I'm not sure what's going to happen after that."
