Long-term Prognosis

LinebackerJessup, Ga.The probable move of Ryan Reynolds to the inside has left an open space at both of Oklahoma's outside linebacker spots. Bryant is the ideal athlete for Oklahoma's strongside linebacker but so is second-year man Austin Box. Bryant has three to play two so it seems possible that he could have a year of redshirt to learn the position as well as get bigger and stronger to mount a full offensive in 2009.Bryant is simply too good of an athlete to not be a factor in Oklahoma's plans at linebacker down the road. Now the impact may not be felt until next season as Bryant won't have the spring to learn the defense nor will he have the entire winter to be bigger and stronger. Though the summer will help him a great deal with what is probably his biggest weakness it probably won't be enough to make up the gap between himself and Box both in understanding scheme as well as overall physicality.
